Weekend hideout @ Home YES - NO Riddles
|
|
I bumped onto the word 'Albatross' while looking for a clue to a super tough mystery Flash game named 'The Bar' i was playing (try it, itz damn tough http://www.gotmail.jp/apps/bar_top.html )
It rekindled the times i spent back in Sri Lanka while we were playing yes-no riddles given by qingyuan and got me in the mood to look for the rest of the yes/no riddles for the day
YES/NO Riddles ( I shall start documenting the riddle list!! ).
Rules of the game : Participants can only ask yes/no answer to derive what actually happened. The host can only replied yes, no (der ) and irrelevant!
1. [Classic] Albatross Sandwich
A man walked into a restaurant and ordered a albatross sandwich. After the first bite on the sandwich, he walked out of the restaurant and kills himself. WHY?
2. Dead Man in Field
A man is found lying dead in a field with a broken match. WHY?
3. Scuba Driver Found in Forest
A man in scuba diving gear was found dead on a tree. WHY?
4. The Strange Lift
A man leaves at the penthouse of a building on the 30th floor. Everyday he goes to work, he will take the elevator to the lobby. Everyday he returns, he will take the elevator up midway to the 15th floor. During rainy days, he will take the elevator to the 30th floor. WHY?
5. The Phone Booth
A man dies in the telephone booth. WHY?
(played the 5 riddles when I was in Sri Lanka ..saw a few more today that was really interesting, and got me to think .. why didnt I think of that?!!)
6. Dark Room
A man woke up in the middle of the night to fetch a glass of water. He switched off the light and went back to sleep. The next morning when he woke up, he stared out of the window and committed suicide.
WHY?
7. I'm Ruined
A car stopped in front of the hotel and the man shouts at his wife, 'I'm RUINED'. WHY?
[the next is abit duhh. but nonetheless)
8. The Bartender
A man walked into the bar and orders a glass of water. The bartender pulls a gun at him, and the next moment, the man thanked him and walked out of the bar. WHY?
9 The Phone
The phone rang and the man realized it was too late and died. WHY?
[this is tough one..]
10. She was five minutes late for her appointment with Tony. When she arrived, Tony told her to leave, even though they would have had plenty of time to do most of what they were planning to do, and he wasn't offended by her tardiness. WHY?

Snow in Shanghai!
|
|
The day i have longed for finally came - It started to snow 'heavily' while we were deep in the sleep, and the next moment when i woke up in the morning - the whole road was covered with a layer of snow!

Nite out @Xintiandi's Ark
|
|
Still in my fervent search for pubs that carry Chinese bands singing Chinese rock or alternative music.
I'm equally impressed by this pub @ Xintiandi's Ark recommended by Jessie, though it charges a cover charge. The band was just superb! It carries mixture of English and Chinese songs, though how i dreamed they could sing all pure alternative or rock Chinese songs.
More than a year back it was such a similar band in a Suzhou pub that leads me to know of the band call Yu Quan. And since then, I fell in love with their songs.
To name a few,
奔跑 This song got me go ga-ga for many months And many inspirations
深呼吸 My recent acquaintance with this song, and my, it's a perfect lively morning song for the bright day ahead !
了不起
彩虹
爱浪漫的人...
The list will keep counting..

2nd Attempt to Nanpu Bridge 南浦大桥
|
|
Unfettered by previous failed attempt to get up Nanpu Bridge, i went on again in search for the lift that would bring me up to Nanpu bridge.
Most of my Shanghainese friends thought i must have been crazy, what so great about viewing a bridge?? Well probing further for directions, apparently none could give me the correct directions to get up there, surprisingly! Traffic jams are extremely common every morning and evening, this could explain very well why most couldnt bear to get out of that long bridge fast enough and bring them across the bridge!
Nanpu bridge is a remarkable architectural acheivement and construction feat. It is world 3rd longest bridge if i didnt remember wrongly. What is more fascinating to me, is the contrasting views between the bridge and also, the intertwining of round-abouts from the top of the bridge.
Nevertheless my 2nd attempt failed again. Having informed that Pudong's side of going up Nanpu bridge has been closed down, i had to take a ferry over to Puxi side at Nan Ma Tou. It's just a mere 0.5rmb per ferry ride!
I finally reached the place that could 'lift' me up the bridge, but well the bad news to me was - the booth selling the tix has closed at 4pm ! And sight seeing time is until 4:30pm which I got from the web it was suppose to end at 8:30pm!
Argh! Mission unaccomplish
